How Do Dogs See with Their Noses?

Dogs can smell 3D, the entire story and our emotions. How do they do that?

My two dogs smell treats… ๐Ÿ˜‹

002825CB-4C9E-401F-BE92-A99FFDCF3F99Your dogโ€™s nose may look wet, wriggling, and cute. It is actually a powerful device that guides him through his days in pretty impressive ways.

He can smell upto 100,000 times better than a human. When they sit, wait or stare in front of the cabinet, or stick his head inside your handbag, trust him, there is food somewhere there. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Who has the best nose?

Out of all the breeds, the below list have the best sense of smell. No wonder many of them where used by the police to search for explosives and drugs. Salute to them!

  • Coonhound
  • English Springer Spaniel
  • Belgian Malinois
  • Labrador Retriever
  • German Shepherd
  • Beagle
  • Basset Hound
  • Bloodhound
  • German Shorthaired Pointer
  • Pointer

Next time when you travel, don’t you dare to sneak in a bag of forbidden food inside your luggage, even if it is sealed, as they can smell it from far away. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜

  1. Dogs are amazing! When we are out walking, I try to be patient with Eliza, my King Charles-Shih Tzu mix, she had to stop and “read” all the markers around the neighborhood. I imagine its like when I check in to Facebook or Reader. I dont like to be rushed, she doesn’t either. ๐Ÿค” Great post. Thanks for the information.

  2. We play hide & seek with my dog, hiding his test treats around the house. He loves it & always mashe manages to find every one, he even goes in the same direction as we do to hide them! Amazing animals… X
