What Kind of Person Do You Want to Be?

img_1675I was pleasantly surprised that someone has contacted me about my motto on my “About Me” page, wanting to make a reference to it. 😀

My Motto:

What a person sees and hears everyday becomes his thinking, his thinking becomes his behaviors, his behaviors becomes his habits, his habits becomes his character, his character becomes his destiny. Therefore if you want to become a certain kind of person, start with what you read and listen everyday. Therefore choose wisely.

I love this motto because in my old days, eventhough I have said that I wanted to live in Jesus and follow Jesus.  But then my live and priorities were occupied by other stuffs.  I might choose to work or dine with friends or running other errands, while turning up late or even skipping church, bible classes or my personal devotion time with God.  In many situations, I might have “no choice” but to work my overtime hours or take care of some family or personal matters.  But if I have asked myself honestly, was it truly not a choice at all? If I didn’t do those things immediately, or delayed doing them for a couple of hours, was it really going to be the end of the world?

I have come to realized that if we truly see Jesus as our Lord and Savior, why do we keep rescheduling the time that we have committed for Him?  Can we not in our calendar mark the time of church or bible study or reading or mediatation and stick to them?

Overtime if we don’t spend enough time in God’s word, at the end of the day, when trouble comes, we will have nothing solid to hold onto our faith and our hope. When we need to make decisions, we have no idea how to choose (or choose the wrong thing) as we don’t know the bible well enough to discern God’s will.

Bible verses to share with you:

to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Titus 3:2-7

These verses refers to how the Holy Spirit renews us, which begins with our thoughts through the Word of God.

A song to share with you:

Hope my motto can be as “awakening” to you, as it was for me.

Lyrics:

Verse 1 In our hearts Lord, In this nation, Awakening. Holy Spirit, We desire Awakening.

Chorus For You and You alone, Awake my soul, Awake my soul and sing. For the world You love, Your will be done, Let Your will be done in me.

Verse 2 In Your presence, In Your power, Awakening. For this moment, For this hour, Awakening. Chorus.

Bridge Like the rising sun that shines, From the darkness comes a light, I hear Your voice say This is my awakening.

Like the rising sun that shines, Awake my soul, Awake my soul and sing. From the darkness comes a light, Awake my soul, Awake my soul and sing.

Like the rising sun that shines, Awake my soul, Awake my soul and sing. Only you can raise a life, Awake my soul, Awake my soul and sing.
